This year, Will and I are taking on our second swimming challenge to raise money for TOFS, a charity that means more to our family than words can say.
Last year, I swam 5km (200 lengths) in one week and, thanks to your incredible support, we raised over £1,500! 🏊♀️🎉
This year we’re going even bigger, aiming to swim a combined 15km (500 lengths)! 💪🏊♀️🏊♂️
💙 Why are we doing this?
Our inspiration is our amazing little boy and brother, Harri.
Harri was born with VACTERL Association, a rare condition where babies are born with a combination of congenital differences affecting different parts of the body. Every child is different, and for Harri it has meant multiple complex medical conditions, surgeries and ongoing specialist care.
One of Harri’s conditions is Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF) and Oesophageal Atresia (OA). This meant his oesophagus (food pipe) didn’t develop properly and was connected to his windpipe, making it impossible for him to feed normally. He underwent major surgery shortly after birth, but TOF/OA is lifelong & he continues to face feeding difficulties, respiratory problems and regular hospital appointments.
Despite everything, Harri amazes us every day with his cheeky smile, determination and resilience. 🥹💙
TOFS is the UK’s charity supporting people born with TOF/OA and their families. They provide practical advice, emotional support and connect families who truly understand this journey. Their support has meant so much to us.
Every length we swim is for Harri, for every child born with TOF/OA and for every family facing this journey.
